Thanksgiving Message from

Dear Friends: As you gather around your dinner table this Thanksgiving, I would like wish you a joyous celebration. This Thanksgiving, I will be spending my day in the kitchen as my husband prepares the turkey and my two sons help me bake pumpkin pies. To us, Thanksgiving means family, giving and gratitude. These three important principles have helped guide me throughout my life and I cherish any opportunity to put them into practice by spending time with my family, giving to others and expressing my gratitude for the many blessings I have in my life.
While there are undoubtedly many things for which I am thankful, I am especially grateful for the opportunity that I have to work on behalf of the residents of the Thirty-Fourth Senate District. I am honored to serve as your advocate at the State level and in this capacity, I am pleased to share that we had our most productive legislative year so far. In 2017 alone, the Governor signed five bills that I authored into law. These laws address important subject matters such as Veterans, public safety and education. I am proud of what we achieved this year and I am confident that with your support, we will continue to make California a better place for all.
Beyond having the honor to represent you, I am thankful to live in a community of committed individuals who are willing to lend each other a helping hand. Just one month ago, I was touched by a wonderful act of giving that I witnessed at the Central-West County Health Expo. Here, more than 700 volunteers arrived as early as 6 a.m. to help residents in need of medical, dental and vision care. The age and expertise of the volunteers varied but what remained constant was their goodwill and genuine desire to help. By the end of the two-day event, we served more than 1,000 residents; a notable achievement that would not be possible without community support.
In this same spirit of giving, just this week, I was proud to join local non-profits, businesses and volunteers to distribute free Thanksgiving turkeys. Thanks to this noble effort, hundreds of families in the Thirty-Fourth District will have a warm meal this Thanksgiving day.
With the holidays upon us, I hope that you will help me continue to spread the spirit of gratitude and kindness, whether it be by saying thank you to someone who made a difference, volunteering at a community event or finding a way within your means to help.
I am grateful for the privilege to represent you and look forward to continuing to serve as your voice in the State Senate.
From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!
With much gratitude,
JANET NGUYEN
Senator, Thirty-Fourth District
California State Legislature
